Most webs are cut at least once, if not many times prior to reaching the end-user customer. This cutting operation is cause for many complaints on a wide variety of products including paper, film, foil, nonwovens, textiles, tissue and more.
 
These many complaints all somehow involve the edge of the web being distorted during the cutting, diecutting, sawing or slitting process. While there are many causes, dull blades are common contributors to cutting problems.  In the next few slides we will merely outline some important cutting issues and then guide you to some important resources where you can learn more.
